If Nest Protect’s carbon monoxide alarm goes off, your Nest Thermostat automatically turns off your gas furnace — a possible source of poisonous carbon monoxide leaks. The Nest Protect activity sensors also improve the Auto-Away feature of your Nest Learning Thermostat.
